Shop Office Reveal

Picking out paint colors is one of my favorite design activities! I picked the colors for the shop 8 months ago and never wavered. But when it came time to pick a color for my studio office, I was a bit stuck. Do I go light and airy, all black, or go with a jewel tone color? The office is small, only 51.97 sq. ft. and conventional wisdom would say go light, but I play by my own set of rules.

THE BEFORE

So when Clare Paint contacted me about painting a room, the timing could not have been more perfect! I immediately went to there website and found the perfect jewel tone color - DEEP DIVE. The order process was so simple. I selected the paint color, primer and painting supplies to complete the room. It was all delivered and arrived quickly is a stylish yellow box. Not one single trip to the store was necessary!

PAINTING: For this project I hired professionals because I had to save my energy for moving furniture into the front of the shop. Feedback from my painter was that the paint rolled on smooth, covered well and the walls only required 2 coats.

THE DESIGN: The design of the office was simple, mix vintage with new. When working with small spaces, scale is super important and so is impact. I started with the desk, I knew I needed something with storage but it needed to be narrow enough to allow me to float it in the room. This Alex Desk from Ikea was the perfect solution - it’s sleek, has clean lines, 2 deep drawers and hides cables. My desk chair is vintage and covered in a black and white chinoiserie fabric - my fave combos (vintage + asian + black and white). The mirror is vintage and painted it a poppy coral. Blinds are new from Overstock. I may have had to comprised on size ( I picked the smallest room as my office) but not style.

This gold foil bulletin board is a purchase from the Pottery Barn Outlet years ago. I use it to pin what’s inspiring me at the moment. A special thank you to Clare Paint for sponsoring the paint and supplies for my studio office, I really love how it all turned out!
