DRIS New Logo

We have a new logo!  If you follow me on social media you've seen it already, but let me explain the reason for the change.

While attending the Black Interior Designers Conference, presenter Nikki Chu gave a presentation on branding.  She talked about product development from concept to marketplace and everything in between.  It was so thorough it got me thinking about my own image and branding.  How would my logo look on a line of bedding, or a line of paint?  I have big dreams you know.

Truth be told I wasn't all that happy with my old logo, but the shop opportunity came up so quick I didn't have time for a name change.  Back in July 2016 I celebrated 5 years in business (not in the studio) so it seemed like an appropriate milestone to revamp my logo.  It was also a good time to change my website from dressmyroominteriors.com to dressingroomsinteriorsstudio.com to make everything cohesive.  People get confused and think my business name is "DressMyRoom" but that is just my Instagram handle.  My full name has too many characters so "DressMyRoom"  has become my namesake.  I continued my branding through my shop sign, price tags and new e-commerce website: www.dressingroomsinteriorsstudio.com (my retired site will redirect you to the new one).

So why a crane?

Since I started selling vintage pieces I noticed that I gravitate toward cranes.  They even started showing up in my clothing choices, so I declared them my spirit animal!  This Black Crown Crane aka East African crowned crane is a tall, majestic-looking bird that sports a sort of crown of tall, stiff, golden feathers. Throughout Asia, the crane is a symbol of happiness and eternal youth. In Japan, the crane is one of the mystical or holy creatures that symbolizes good fortune, freedom and longevity because of its fabled life span of a thousand years.  I love African and Asian pieces and with this Black Crown Crane naturally in the colors of my logo (I got rid of the blue) we were meant to be together.

And for all of you that have asked "do you have a gallery of your pieces" I do now!  I realize how hard it was for you to shop with me via social media or affiliated websites, so feel free to shop my site and use code FRIENDS&FAMILY for your special discount.
